It looks like Alicia Keys has adopted a new phone-free policy at her shows thanks to Yondr, a company which found a way to prevent people from using their phones inside concert venues.
Fans must have been surprised when they had to enter Alicia Keys’ concert at the Highline Ballroom without their phones! Well, they still had their phones on them, but they weren’t allowed to use it and had to put them in lockable pouches. This new concept created by Yondr company appeals to more and more artists, and it consists of banning phones during shows.
Concert goers just have to put their phones in a pouch that is automatically locked when they enter the “phone-free zone”. If they need to use it, they have to go outside so that it can be unlocked. This may be effective but not very practical in case of an emergency.
Alicia Keys isn’t the first artist putting this into practice. Other celebrities such as Dave Chappelle, The Lumineers and Louis C.K. did the same. By doing so, the artists and Yondr hope people will better enjoy their time at concerts but these measures are also said to help prevent new material from leaking on social media.
In any case, now if you go to Key’s concerts, you won’t be able to bring memories back with you! Too bad!
