Last week, Lwasa visited the grave of the late Ssegirinya, seeking spiritual guidance as he campaigns for the Kawempe North Member of Parliament seat.
He is contesting in the National Unity Platform (NUP) primaries to replace Ssegirinya, who passed away last month.
His visit to the grave sparked criticism, with some accusing him of using the late MP’s name for political gain.
In response, Lwasa issued an apology, stating that he did not intend to disrespect the late Ssegirinya or exploit his legacy.
“I deeply regret any misunderstanding caused by my visit. My intention was to honor my mentor and seek guidance, not to manipulate his memory for political reasons,” Lwasa said.
The NUP party is expected to hold primaries soon to determine who will represent the party in the upcoming by-election.
