GENRE: Fusion/Acoustic
One of the greatest pleasures of being a writer and outgoing is that you get to meet the coolest people under the sun! Guess who I met, Lenea, a UK based Jamaican poet, singer and spoken word maestro.
With bubble gum music clogging our airwaves, it is understandable such talent struggles to penetrate to our airwaves. The soul of music, safe to say, is lost and wandering.
A fragile sequence of dreams, Lenea, manifests herself as an outstanding poet, live music performer with an exuberant adventurous voice singing her heart out streaming from the soul of music.
She is not the typical breed of modern Jamaican artiste, her music is a careful recipe sauteed and chopped with soul reaching ballads, elegantly garnished with thoughtful lyrics served on a dish of poetry.
In ”Original woman”, my favourite on the album, produced by Stephen Marley, she goes full blown with energy that gets you groovy as she opens up the beauty and identity of a woman like a flower, coloring and swelling with scented lyrics.
”Ode to the slave”, ”Show me the Way”, ”Self love” and other songs on this album maintains the same string of poetry however demand a keen ear as they are the acoustic kind, just a lovely voice and guitar setting a stimulating romantic atmosphere. Only if she would sandwich it with the strength and tempo in Original woman, here and there!
”Acha Niende Nksali”, is the most adventurous, simply mind stirring!
