Aka Dope Band have been lined up to perform at the annual Uganda Social Media conference.
The band, which will be performing at the close of each day of the conference, is expected to provide the much needed relaxation after a long day of deliberations. The band will entertain guests with a live showcase, performing covers as well as their original compositions.
Now in its 6th edition, the Uganda Social Media conference is being organised by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and will run from 25th to 26th, August 2021 under the theme “Digital democracy in a Post Pandemic World”.
The conference will gather key stakeholders from the government, civil society, academia, researchers, policy-makers, and the media for a constructive exchange on the impact of social media on the state and society —highlighting both, opportunities and challenges it brings.
It will feature a list of over 30 panelists who will discuss a range of topics including Social media & elections in Africa, Citizen journalism vs digital newsrooms, Digital diplomacy, Impact of social media on mental health, and Tackling emerging digital threats among others.
Among the speakers is Dr. William Tayeebwa, a Senior Lecturer at Makerere University and Research Fellow of American Council of Learned Societies; Adonia Ayebare, the Ugandan Ambassador to the United Nations; Dr. Paul Kasenene, a Wellness and Nutrition Specialist; Ms. Anna Reismann, Country Director of KAS Uganda; Raymond Mujuni, Investigative Journalist; and Awel Uwihanganye, Founder of LéO Africa Institute, among others.
The conference will be held virtually with the attendants following proceedings live on social media and select local television stations.
