Following the massive support and love that Ugandans exhibited after the passing on of AK47, the deceased’s mother has come out to thank Ugandans for the support.
Prosy Mayanja, the mother of the deceased said that she was overwhelmed by the support showed by Ugandans. She noted that in the past people used to disrespect musicians and comedians calling them all sorts of names. Prosy also said that as a mother of mainly musicians (Chameleone, Pallaso and Weasel) some people always belittled her calling her a mother of hooligans. But the support showed by Ugandans at large when AK47 died was one that silenced all those who thought that music is not an important profession.
“Thank you very much for respecting my son. Thank you so much for proving to the world that musicians are also important in society despite what people say about them. I am very humbled by this support and I would like to say thank you very much,” she said.
Emmanuel Mayanja aka AK47 who hit the limelight in 2008 has been giving Ugandans music since. In 2011 his dancehall song called Champion was a mega hit in clubs and radio stations. He slipped and fell in a bathroom at Dejavu bar in Kampala before being pronounced dead at Nsambya hospital shortly after.
