Airtel Uganda, the largest supporter of football in Uganda and official sponsor of the Uganda Cranes, has been announced the main sponsor of the revived FUFA awards at a morning press conference held at the Kampala Serena Hotel today and attended by FUFA officials led by the FUFA president, partners; Pepsi, Nile Special, Rwenzori water and National Insurance Corporation as well as members of the media.
Dubbed ‘Airtel FUFA Awards’, the awards are aimed at honoring the outstanding Ugandan footballers in the period 2014 to 2015.
Speaking at the press conference, Airtel Uganda Brand and Assets Manager Noela Byuma expressed excitement at the revival of the awards, and thanked the other sponsors who had joined Airtel to make this possible.
“Airtel Uganda is deeply involved in football at all levels in Uganda; we currently have our grassroots Airtel Rising Stars tournament on-going with the finals to be played in Mbarara this month. We are also official sponsors of the FUFA Big League, the Uganda Super League and the Uganda Cranes national team. It is therefore fitting that we award this football talent that we nurture from the grassroots level,”Byuma added.
According to the FUFA president, Eng. Moses Magogo, “The revival of these awards is an achievement for FUFA and we are very proud to have all these partners on board.” Magogo ended by encouraging the football fans in Uganda to vigorously participate in the Airtel FUFA Awards’ voting process in order to ensure that their favorite players are recognized and awarded.
