Airtel Uganda, The Smartphone Network, has announced that it will be the headline sponsor of the Supa Strikas comic book; a magazine series that will help us to take football beyond the pitch and into the daily lives of football lovers and fans in Uganda.

Supa Strikas is a pan-African association football-themed comic, about the world’s greatest football team. Despite their enormous talent, the players must adapt in a game where being the best is only the beginning, and where the opposition is always full of surprises.

Speaking at the launch, Airtel Uganda Marketing Director Mr. Prasoon Lal said, “Through the Supa Strikas comic series, audiences will be able to relate more with our own local footballers as the characters’ lives, challenges and triumphs will mirror those of the real life players.”

“Airtel Uganda will continue to provide new platforms that will keep football alive and relevant, especially to Uganda’s youthful audiences,” Lal added.

Airtel Uganda has been instrumental in the promotion of football in Uganda through different efforts such as their grassroots football talent search – the Airtel Rising Stars, their sponsorship of the Uganda National team and the introduction of the Airtel Football online portal.

The readers of Supa Strikas series will also get to connect and keep up with Uganda’s celebrated National team players who will from time to time be featured in the story line.

The Supa Strikas magazine will come out once a month in the Daily Monitor newspapers.
