In a bid to ease the ability for SACCOs to transact because of poor infrastructure and limited capacity to invest in multiple banking channels coupled with the challenges associated with loss of critical data due to system crashes caused by unreliable power supply and burglary, Airtel Uganda has partnered with Equity Bank Uganda, Uganda Cooperative Savings and Credit Union (UCSCU), FutureLinkTechnologies (FLT) to implement The Integrated Financial Inclusion Project

(IFIP), that will enable more than two million customers  get Financial Access regardless of their location in Uganda.

Through the AIRTEL’s M-SACCO Mobile Money option, the project is digitising and connecting together 2000 SACCOs, starting with 20 for the pilot phase.

Speaking at the launch, Airtel Money Director Mr. Nuhu Kanyike said “The IFIP project avails an opportunity for SACCO members to save more often because of the convenience of transacting through Airtel Money anywhere”

“At Airtel, we are proud to offer business solutions through our Airtel Money platform and we believe this project will go a long way to ease the cost of doing business”, he further said.
