Residents of Fort Portal, Kabarole and surrounding districts recently received free health care services when Airtel Uganda, in partnership with the Hind’s Feet Project, held a health camp in their region.

Stationed at Rutete Sub County, Airtel Uganda staff members in partnership with Hind’s feet professionals, offered treatment to the sick and equipped them with sufficient and relevant information to make proper health decisions.

The medical services offered included; Hepatitis B screening and vaccination, dental care, eye checkups and general medicine, screening for HIV, diabetes, ulcers, blood pressure, syphilis, hepatitis B and malaria. The health fair also included blood donation, safe male circumcision as well as free cancer screening services.

Speaking at the health fair, Airtel Uganda Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Mrs. Charity Rwabutomize Bukenya said that “At Airtel, we believe in the well-being of the people in the different communities in which we operate,” adding that health camps are just one of the ways that Airtel Uganda is giving back to the communities in Uganda.

“We also have initiatives such as Adopt-A- School and Airtel Rising Stars which aim to ensure that the children in the communities get access to the best education facilities and a chance to pursue their dreams of becoming legendary footballers, respectively,” she noted.

The Fort Portal health camp, which attracted more than 2,000 people from surrounding areas, is the third health camp to be organized by Airtel Uganda this year. Before Fort Portal, Airtel Uganda visited Kabale and Kampala districts and provided screening, counseling and checkups for residents in the above mentioned areas.
