All roads led to Busitema, East of Uganda where a group of passionate Airtel “green team” members together with a team from Rotaract Uganda & the National forest authority planted 3757 trees at the West Bugwe Forest Reserve.

The initiative was combined with a Community Outreach programme where Airtel donated 200 text books, reached out to more than 200 patients at the medical health camp and donated more than 210 packets of sanitary pads to young school girls at Busitema College Primary School.

Airtel Uganda CSR Manager Charity Bukenya hands over text books to Busitema College primary school staff member.

“Environment being part of our CSR Pillars, Airtel is committed to preserve our environment and the natural animal habitation and at the same time enrich the lives of those in the communities we visit,” said Charity Bukenya, the Airtel CSR manager.

“Airtel Uganda would like to thank everyone who responded to the call and contributed to this very noble cause. Together we will continue to preserve our environment and its natural habitation whilst also enriching the lives of those in this community that we serve,” she further said.

This is not the first time the staff members of Airtel Uganda are making an effort to contribute to the community in which they operate. Last year, Airtel Uganda staff paid a visit to the Uganda Cheshire Homes – Katalemwa, the main pre and post-operative rehabilitation unit for corrective surgery in Uganda, where they volunteered and encouraged the children to rise above their disabilities in order to become change drivers in their own communities.
