Today, Airtel Uganda handed over the Kabaka Run marathon kits to the Buganda Kingdom at a press conference that was held at the Airtel Uganda offices.
The handover was graced by Buganda Kingdom officials led by the Buganda Kingdom Minister of Sports Mr. Sekabembe Henry and the General Manager of Majestic BrandsOmumbejja Daniella Nakayenga as well as Airtel Uganda directors and staff members led by the Managing Director Mr. Tom Gutjahr.
Airtel Uganda is the main sponsor of the 2015 Kabaka Run as part of a partnership agreement that was signed with the Buganda Kingdom worth one hundred and seventy million shillings per year for the next three years to cater to four of the most important Buganda Kingdom activities; the Kabaka Run, Kabaka’s birthday, the Kabaka’s coronation as well as Eid El Fitri.
During the handover, Gutjahr said, “Airtel Uganda is very passionate about supporting women causes in Uganda, as evidenced by the various activities we have done in support of women throughout March. This is why the proceeds from the run, just like last year, will go to the fight against fistula in women and girls in Uganda.”
Gutjahr concluded by pledging “…future commitment and support to the Buganda Kingdom, its people and its activities, as we unite to maintain the good glory of this Kingdom.”
“We would like to thank Airtel Uganda for consistently supporting Buganda Kingdom and its activities,” commented Buganda Kingdom Minister of Sports Mr. Sekabembe Henry as he was receiving the kits.
“These kits are going to be handed out to everyone who has registered for the Kabaka Run,” he added.
