Kampala, Uganda, 2nd October 2013 – Airtel Uganda today opened a new customer care center on Kampala Road. Present at the official ribbon cutting ceremony were Airtel Managing Director VG Somasekhar, representatives from Huawei and Guest of Honor Chris Kassami, the Airtel Board Chairman, as well as customers eagerly waiting to be the first through the doors at the new shop.
In a major move to expand its reach even further, Airtel has continues to launch premium shops and customer care centers countrywide with more openings to follow in the months to come.
The Airtel shops offer a bouquet of services and will see customers enjoy fast and convenient customer service with all their needs taken care of as quickly as possible in a welcoming and friendly environment. Furthermore, the recently concluded partnership with Huawei will see exclusive products from the company available in the new Airtel shop.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Somasekhar, the Airtel M.D. said “The new premium shop is one of the many innovations that Airtel has embarked on since the merger. The newest and probably most exciting innovation so far is that now both Airtel and Warid recharge cards can recharge both Airtel and Warid numbers. Meaning that if you’re on Warid you can use the Airtel recharge card and vice-versa. As we continue to delight customers, we encourage them to look forward to even more innovations.
We would like to especially recognize the new Board Chairman and welcome him on board and thank him for the support and guidance he has provided during this merger period. Mr. Chris Kassami comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience from the business world and we can only expect great things from him. ”

Also present at the launch was Huawei CEO Radoslaw Kedzia who gave a Huawei Ascend W1 to a lucky winner.
