Airtel Uganda has announced a 90-day Airtel Money promotion during which subscribers sending money within the network will enjoy a major discount in tariffs.

The new tariffs have been streamlined up to 60 per cent with three prices respectively; Shs100, Shs500 and Shs1,000 across all bands effective today. The reduction applies to sending money (Person To Person).

In the promotion dubbed SUUKUMA CASH, 22 customers and 3 agents stand a chance to win Shs500,000 daily upon sending money worth any amount in the 90-day duration.

In addition, 10 subscribers will stand a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to watch the Uganda Cranes live at AFCON in Egypt.

According to the Airtel Uganda Managing Director, Mr. V.G. Somasekhar, the promotion is an addition to the convenience and instant solutions the platform offers especially during this Ramadan Season.

“Airtel Money subscribers can conveniently and instantly do so much more in a reliable and secure manner using their mobile phones. By lowering the cost of these transactions, an increased number of Ugandans will get access to affordable and basic financial services. We are as well simplifying alms giving (Zakah),” Mr Somasekhar said.

Mr Somasekhar, however, noted that withdrawal tariffs among other fees, will remain unchanged during the promotion period.
