During the festive season Africell Uganda conducted a customer promotion in which the company sought to reward loyal airtime customers with Boda Bodas astarting on the 1st December, 2020 to 4th January, 2021. The promotion which was dubbed as the Africell Load and Ride promotion was aimed at sharing Christmas cheer with loyal subscribers that had supported the Telecom giant by buying airtime a. The promotion was open to all Africell Uganda subscribers loaded Airtime or Data worth UGX 5,000 and above.
Africell subscribers who qualified to took part in the promotion were automatically entered into a random draw that happened once every week and a lucky winner was picked and rewarded with a brand new motorbikes.Boda Boda.By the end of the promotion, four subscribers had managed to take home the brand new bikes with many promising to use them to start a new income stream.
Winner Profiles.
1st Winner – Mrs. Jackie Sebunya
Mrs. Sebunya was the first winner of the promotion on a draw that took place on the 9th December 2021. She is a vendor of water in Wabigalo upper zone where she sells a jerrycan of tap water for 150/= to her neighbors and community. She averagely earns around 300,000/= from this business and she also complements it by making pancakes and doughnuts which she gives to her children to help her distribute and sell in Wabigalo.Mrs.Ssebunya said ever since she won the Boda Boda, her life has changed for good because it is an alternative source of income.
2nd Winner – Mr. Misango Emmanuel Ssemakula
Mr. Ssemakula was second winner on the 16th December 2021. He is a car mechanic who operates in Kireka, a Kampala suburb. Mr. Ssemakula did not believe that he had won until he was handed the brand new Boda Boda at the Africell Headquarters at Clement Hill in Kampala.
Mr. Ssemakula says the Boda Boda has changed his life for good because he now earns extra money that he did not have before.
3rd Winner – Mr. Kafeero Gerald
A Lira City car mechanic, Mr. Kafeero was the third winner. He travelled from the Northern Uganda city upon learning that he had won himself a brand new Boda Boda from Africell. Kafeero has since travelled back to Lira but left the Boda Boda in Bweyogerere where he his other family members reside to support them as an alternative source of income.
Ms. Amanda Hope Amaka
Miss. Amanda Hope Amaka, a 21 year old second year Automotive Engineering student at Kyambogo University was the fourth and last winner.Miss. Amaka said she would find a qualified rider and use the Boda Boda as her source of income to save the burden of upkeep while at University from her parents so that can shift all their efforts to her siblings.
Africell Uganda promises to keep sharing and giving back to subscribers in the future through life changing promotions on top of providing affordable Data and Voice prices on the market that give real value for money.
