Adobe’s Photoshop Express Now on Windows Phone

Adobe launched Photoshop Express for Windows Phone Thursday, finally bringing its first image-editing app to the platform.

The app will follow the same freemium model as the iOS and Android version of Photoshop Express, with basic editing features available for free and more advanced effects available through in-app purchases.

The app provides a variety of tools for making small adjustments—cropping, rotating and removing red eye—as well as controls to fine tune the look of your photos, including adjustments for brightness, contrast, exposure and clarity.

Photoshop Express also comes with dozens of Instagram-like filters— 22 of which are available for free while the other 20 can be unlocked through the app’s $2.99 “Looks Pack.”

Saved images can be shared to Adobe Revel, OneNote, Dropbox and other third-party apps. The range of editing features and sharing options make the app far more robust than many of the platform’s other offerings. The Windows Phone version of Instagram is still in beta. Meanwhile, other popular photo editing platforms, like Camera+, have yet to make it to the Windows Phone Store at all.

Adobe showed off a new version of Photoshop CC optimized for Surface tablets at Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 launch last month, but Photoshop Express is the company’s first creative app to make it to Windows Phone.

The iOS version of Photoshop Express rolled out in 2009, and the Android version followed in 2011.
