ACTS Fund Uganda has continued its mission of promoting emotional well-being with yet another powerful conversation, this time focusing on childhood trauma.

ACTS Fund Uganda founder, Mrs. Diana Kibuuka

Through a Twitter (X) Space held on Friday, June 20, 2025, the organization tackled the theme “Managing Childhood Trauma,” attracting a growing audience concerned with mental health and healing.

The session was hosted by Charles Ssenabulya and featured mental health experts Mrs. Diana Kibuuka and Mr. Gideon Tomusange.

The discussion explored key areas including how childhood trauma appears, its impact on adult life, mental health issues associated with trauma, and how society can better support affected individuals.

“Trauma is not just about what happens—it’s about what the child feels,” said Mr. Tomusange.

“It can begin as early as the labour ward. Many adults are struggling silently with effects from experiences they had when they were young—abuse, neglect, fear, or loss. This is a major issue that society has not paid enough attention to.”

Mrs. Kibuuka emphasized the role of older generations in helping children heal.

“We need to love, listen, and support children wherever they are—especially in schools. Trauma affects how children express themselves and understand life. Instead of judging them, we must guide them with care and understanding.”

The session stressed that while childhood trauma is real and deeply rooted, healing is possible with the right support.

ACTS Fund encouraged parents, teachers, and the community to be more aware and proactive in protecting children’s mental health.
