ABS TV ordered to stop airing Kalondozi and two other shows

ABS TV has been ordered to stop airing its popular show Kalondozi and two others.

According to a statement released by the industry regulator, Uganda Communications Commission(UCC), the banned programmes are in breach of the Minimum Broadcasting Standards. The other affected shows are Nabawalanyi and Oluwombo Lwa Bafumbo.

Here’s a statement from UCC:

“UCC DIRECTIVE TO ABS TV
The Commission has established that ABS TV station has continuously broadcast programmes that are in breach of the Minimum Broadcasting Standards set out in Section 31 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013.

These programmes include; Kalondozi, Nabawalanyi and Oluwombo Lwa Bafumbo.
The Commission, henceforth, directs ABS TV to stop broadcasting these programmes with immediate effect.

We, therefore, call on the general public to accord us your usual cooperation incase this directive is breached by the station in question.”
