Uganda Cup 2016 winners, Vipers Sports Club have appointed Abdullah Mubiru as their new head coach on a three a year deal. The CAF ‘A’ class licence holder was unveiled to the media on Monday at Imperial Resort Beach in Entebbe.
Mubiru now reunites with George ‘Best’ Nsimbe with an unforeseen change in hierarchy. Nsimbe was a boss to the former during their spell at KCCA FC where they won the league title back-to-back in 2012/2013 and in 2013/2014.
The development now implies that 2014/2015 league winning coach at the Kitende based club, Edward Golola now falls to the third place in the coaching hierarchy.
Mubiru started his coaching career in topflight football with Mujibu Kasule’s Proline FC in the 2011/2012 season but was fired half way the season. He also handled his former school Kibuli SS and Singo recently in the Masaza cup.
For a year, Mubiru has been on the side lines of topflight football after parting ways with the Kasasiro Boys at the end of the 2014/2015 season and was replaced by coach Mike Ray Mutebi and Omulangila Sam Ssimbwa.
His first task will be trying to win the FUFA Super Cup that is slated for 14th August, 2016 at Nakivubo Stadium against the league champions KCCA FC as the curtain raiser to the 2016/2017 season.
