Kampala capital city’s (KCC) new head coach Abdallah Mubiru was impressed with his side’s goalless draw against Express at the Wankulukuku stadium on Friday as he was taking charge of his first game as the head coach for the reigning champions.
Mubiru was elevated from his position of assistant coach to be the head coach last week on Tuesday at the Arirang Hotel during a farewell dinner of the now departed George ‘Best’ Nsimbe who was freed of his duties as he prepares to join Tanzanian based side Azam next year in February. Nsimbe signed a two year deal with Azam under which he will be joining them as an assistant coach.
“We have tried our best despite failing to win the game,” Mubiru is quoted on the club’s official website. “The league is on a marathon and any point you get counts.”
KCC are third on the Uganda Premier League table with 21 points from 10 games as they continue with their bid to defend the title while Express are fourth with 20 points from the same number of games.
The defending champions return to action next week on Tuesday 2nd December 2014 to take on Jinja based side Bul F.C at the Phillip Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
