Kampala Capital City head coach, Abdallah Mubiru has hailed the performance of his team after defeating Mtende F.C at the Aman Stadium in the Mapinduzi Peace Cup that is ongoing in Zanzibar.
The Ugandan representatives, KCC kept a clean sheet as they condemned Mtende to a 3-0 defeat yesterday afternoon. Strikers Herman Wasswa scored in the first half while William Wadri netted a second half brace to give victory to the defending champions.
“The boys played well and truly deserved the three points. The biggest positive from today’s win is the clean sheet. It always hurts when you concede goals and it was the reason we bowed out early in the CAF Champions League last year,” Mubiru told the club’s official website.
Mubiru also praised his strikers for a job well done. “It’s what we demand of them and am proud of their performance. Their start to the season was slow but luckily, they are picking up at a moment when we need them most,” Mubiru remarked.
The now Group B table leaders of KCC will face off with KMKM on Wednesday in their last match of the group stages. The yellow boys want all the maximum points as they continue to seek qualification to the knockout stage of the tournament. “We want to win every game we play and it won’t be different against KMKM”, Mubiru said.
