Abba Marcus Mayanja, son of legendary Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone, has made an emotional appeal to Ugandans to support his father in overcoming a longstanding struggle with alcohol abuse.

Speaking in a live video, Abba revealed that Chameleone’s ongoing health challenges stem from acute pancreatitis, a condition he was diagnosed with several years ago.

The illness, according to Abba, has been aggravated by excessive alcohol consumption, which his father has battled for a long time.

“Everyone that loves him and loves his music, please, please speak out. Let us hold him accountable, but let us help him out,” Abba implored viewers.

He clarified that his appeal was not meant to embarrass the celebrated artist but to rally collective efforts to save him.

Doctors and health professionals have reportedly advised Chameleone to reduce his alcohol intake, but their recommendations have been met with resistance.

Abba emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging fans and the wider community to intervene constructively.

The public and media have shared mixed reactions to the news, with some expressing concern for Chameleone’s well-being and others debating the musician’s lifestyle choices.

While his music has left a lasting impact on the African music scene, his personal struggles now draw attention to the need for support and intervention.

Abba’s heartfelt plea highlights the human side of one of Uganda’s greatest entertainers, reminding fans of the importance of standing by their icons in moments of need.
