Singer and songwriter A Pass has opened up about his behind-the-scenes contributions to some of the country’s biggest music stars, revealing that his influence stretches far beyond his own catalog.
Speaking during an interview on KFM, A Pass shared that he has quietly written and contributed to songs for several top artists, including Juliana Kanyomozi, Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo, and Cindy Sanyu.
“I definitely write for people,” A Pass said, before going on to detail some of his contributions. He revealed that he penned multiple songs for Bebe Cool, including Byebyo, Everywhere You Go, and African Gal. According to him, his work with Bebe Cool alone spans at least three songs.
A Pass also disclosed that he collaborated with Eddy Kenzo on the project Be Happy, further highlighting his role in shaping hits behind the scenes.
His songwriting journey, however, didn’t start recently. The artist noted that he had been writing music as far back as his early days in the industry, including for Michael Ross. While he estimates working on at least two songs for Ross, he admits the full list of his contributions is hard to track.
“The thing is that I forget because I don’t give it much attention,” he explained, emphasizing that his main focus has always been pushing his own career as an artist.
The revelations didn’t stop there. A Pass also shared that he played a role in Cindy Sanyu’s Dat Dat, where he provided both the beat and the chorus, leaving Cindy to complete the verses.
Despite his extensive involvement in writing and production, A Pass says he intentionally downplays this side of his career. He fears being boxed in as just a songwriter, which could overshadow his identity as a performing artist.
“I want to push my music, so sometimes people may get lost into thinking that you’re a songwriter and not see you as an artist,” he added.
