President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Lawrence Mulindwa has rewarded the Cranes team with US$33,000 for their victory in a 2014 World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The home side scored late in the game to beat 10-man Angola 2-1 in a Group J encounter played at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Mulindwa, who also rewarded the Cranes after victory over Liberia last week, told the team at Sky Hotel, Naalya, that they deserved to be thanked for work well done.

“Thanks for making the national proud,” said Mulindwa.

Team manager Chrispus Muyinda said that they were going to share the reward between the team members and the technical team tonight.

The Cranes, supported by MTN Uganda as their number one sponsor and Nile Breweries Limited through their Nile Special brand, now top Group J with eight points, while Senegal who face Liberia on Sunday, are second.
