After ending a 38-year jinx in the Africa Cup of Nations, Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has remarked that Uganda now needs to qualify for more and more editions.
Uganda beat Comoros by 1-0 at thanks to Farouk Miya’s 36th minute strike in front of a mammoth crowd that filled Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
While speaking to the media in a post match press conference, coach Micho said; “We now need to qualify for more and more editions. I thank FUFA and all stake holders.”
On the other hand, Cranes Captain Geoffrey Massa was thankful to the Lord for such a big achievement. “I thank God for this achievement. Our character and attitude has been the best throughout the qualification campaign,” Massa remarked after Uganda’s qualification to the 2017 AFCON.
The last time Uganda featured at the continental tournament was back in 1978 and finished as runners up after falling to Ghana in the final.
