Phillip LuswataRenowned Ugandan actor and arts activist, Phillip Luswata was today morning arrested and briefly detained at CPS after he staged a protest against the sale of  National Theatre.

We have learnt that Luswata was arrested after he decided to take his protest to parliament.

Luswata is spearheading a campaign dubbed “Save Uganda National Theatre” aimed at preventing the give away of National Theatre to developers.

According to industry sources, plans are underway to demolish National Theatre and replace it with a 6000 seater auditorium while a shopping mall is erected in the rest of the space.
