Kenya’s celebrated comedian Eric Omondi was a no-show at Salvado’s Africa Laughs show that was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday evening.
Eric was billed to join the all-Africa comedy stars cast that included Bovi from Nigeria, Eddie Kadi from Congo, Ndumiso Lindi from South Africa, Carl Joshua Ncube from Zimbabwe and Arthur Nkusi from Rwanda who were slated to crack up Uganda’s comedy lovers.
According to Salvado, who made the heartbreaking revelation at the show, Eric opted for another show in South Korea. “After paying him, Eric Omondi refuses to show up. He instead went to South Korea,” Salvado echoed his frustration.
We have since learnt that Omondi was representing Africa at the annual three-day Busan International Comedy Festival in South Korea that kicked off on Friday.

However, Eric Omondi’s presence was not that much missed as another popular Kenyan comedian Chipukeezy Vinny was jetted in to replace him. Chipukeezy managed to snugly fill Omondi’s big shoes as he evoked bouts of laughter from the audience with jokes about local pastors and their translators, differences in culture between Uganda and Kenya among others.
