Eddy Kenzo was the biggest winner of the night at the Uganda Entertainment Awards last Friday. The singer notched 4 awards; Best Video (Soraye), Best East African Act, Best Male Artist and Artiste of the Year as his close rivals Bebe Cool and Chameleone walked home empty handed. He then proceeded to make a speech calling upon Ugandans to recognize him because his time has come and Ugandans have been ignoring him for long.
He said; “Ladies and gentlemen. This is my first time to attend any Ugandan award ceremony. The reason I was not attending is because they cheat me. Any artiste in Uganda who wants to reach where I have reached has to do what I do, win everything. I am left with a Grammy.”
Speaking about the awards, musician Chameleone said that Kenzo is still facing village excitement. He advised him to avoid getting excited by such awards as this will take him away from the core of what he is supposed to do as a musician. “I would like to warn young artistes not to take these awards serious, they will kill their careers,” he said.
