Yesterday, news spread on social media that Shanitah Namuyimba aka Bad Black who had been on the Interpol and Ugandan police wanted list had been finally nabbed in Rwanda. The news were later confirmed by Uganda police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba.
To our surprise, later in the day, the victim Bad Black came out through the same channel that had earlier spread the rumour to rubbish claims that she was in custody ready to be deported back to Uganda.
In a series of Facebook posts she denied ever being in Rwanda this year. In one of her posts, she said: “wolokosso waki muyina samwa samwa muyina fitina. Singapore mwagiyise rwanda mbwa mweeeeeeeeeeee wabula muswade na kawutta mutako” which literally translated means that her arrest was just a baseless rumour,Singapore is not Rwanda, shame upon you.”
She further said through her second post: “hahaha badblack arrested are you dreaming u fools………………….am online hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa munesoyiwe temusobola mbwa mwe………….nze black nabangamba nti teli mugagaga musilu tafulu i hate ugandans media coz u look same as maaaaaaaaaaa……..……n”. Any one under custody can not be facebooking literal meaning.
Earlier in the day the Rwanda national police had issued a press statement on the arrest which read:
RWANDA NATIONAL POLICE PRESS RELEASE ON ARREST OF A UGANDAN
October 16, 2013
Kigali-Rwanda
The Rwanda National Police (RNP) this morning in Nyarutarama, Gasabo District arrested a Ugandan fugitive Shanita Namuyimba aka “Bad Black” on suspicion of drug dealing and money laundering.
According to the Police Spokesperson, ACP Damas Gatare,
“Ms Shanita Namuyimba has been living in Rwanda for two months now after arriving from Bangkok, Thailand in July 2013. She is wanted in Uganda for embezzlement of millions of dollars from her British ex-lover David Greenhalgh.
The Police Spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing in collaboration with the Ugandan Police.
This could as well explain why she could have posted denying the charges, because she had been released on bond.
