Tanzanian singer Ray-C back to rehab after attempting suicide

Tanzanian singer Ray-C has been sent back to a rehabilitation centre in Dar es salaam, days after being rescued from a suicide attempt.

The singer was picked by police on Dar es Salaam streets after she started yelling, saying she will strip naked and was asking for a knife to stab herself.

The Bongo Flava artiste was in 2012 admitted to rehab after the then Tanzanian president Jakaya Kikwete and well-wishers came to her rescue.

In April, Kikwete urged Ray-C to stop abusing drugs while on methadone treatment as it would result in her breaking down.

The former president learnt of Ray-C’s alleged relapse when photos of a dejected woman reported to be Ray-C were published in one of the country’s popular weeklies.
