Two time league champions Vipers Sports Club pipped Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) 2-0 to hold the advantage in the Uganda Cup semi-finals.
In a game played at the heart of the Country’s capital, Kampala at Nakivubo Stadium, Erisa Sekisambu beat KCCA custodian Benjamin Ochan and tapped the ball into the back of the net to open the scoring for the visitors as early as the eighth minute.
The industrious Uganda Cranes striker missed a golden opportunity to the double the lead when he was denied by the woodwork in the 28th minute, keeping his season cup tournament tally at six goals.
It was 1-0 by halftime but five minutes into the second half, Alfred Leku doubled lead for George ‘Best’ Nsimbe’s side.
In a highly competitive game, KCCA’s goal scoring problems just continued despite forcing Ismail Wantenga into a couple of saves. All their efforts were fruitless denying them even a consolation.
Vipers now hold a 2-0 advantage over the Kasasiro Boys ahead of Sunday’s return leg that will be played at Buikwe and are just 90 minutes away from playing at the finals of the 42nd edition and their third record final of the annual tournament.
The finals of the competition will be played on 18th June, 2016 at Nakivubo stadium, hosted by Kampala Region Football Association.
