Ugandan music has for a long time been below standards as compared to music from other countries in Africa especially Nigeria. According to dancehall star, Ziza Bafana, the government needs to intervene and promote music if we are to make it to the global stage.
Speaking about this topic, Ziza observed that some artistes often get a chance to meet government officials, like Bebe Cool who has an ear of the President, but they don’t talk about the pressing issues that need to be addressed.
“Most Ugandan artistes (like Bebe Cool) are greedy and hopeless that is why they always front cars as their investments. They take the public for granted yet the public can google and find out how much those cars cost. We are past that age. They have never talked to the big man about the things eating up the music industry,” Ziza said as he called upon artistes like Bebe Cool who have the President’s attention to talk issues that affect the industry.
We will keep you posted.
