Uganda’s reggae music legend Maddox Ssematimba was the highlight of an exciting evening at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Sunday.

Maddox who was the headlining act at the Qwela Juction “The Crooners” edition lived up to the billing as he fired up the crowd when he finally stepped on stage.

Qwela Juction “The Crooners” edition brought together an all-male lineup of seven artistes on the same stage who delivered a one-of-a-kind collaborative concert. These included Richy Kawesa, Benon Mugumya, Kenneth Mugabi, Allan Tonix, Kimera and Steve Keys.

The crooners kicked off the show with a powerful opening performance as they each took turns to take center stage. Afro-soul singer Kenneth Mugabi blew away the audience with his soulful performance. Richy, Kimera and Steve dazzled revelers with their strong vocals. Tonix serenaded the audience with his solo act on the guitar while Benon added the much needed energy to the show.

When Maddox was finally introduced on stage at around 10pm, he emerged from the audience amid loud cheers of ecstasy. Performing some of his classics like “Nakatudde”, “Namagembe” among others, he had the elated crowd on their feet and dancing along as the other crooners backed him up.

When Maddox finally bowed out, saying good night, the crowd which had been up on their feet through out his performance was still enjoying his tunes and not ready to have him leave stage. They consequently burst out into a chorus of loud chants, “We want more! We want more!”
