League defending champions, Vipers Sports Club struck late to edge the 2011-2012 champions Express Football Club by 1-0 in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) at Buikwe Stadium on Tuesday evening.

In a highly contested fixture, Sadam Juma broke the deadlock in the 86th minute of the game as George ‘Best’ Nsimbe’s side reclaimed the second place on the league table at the expense of the Red Eagles whose title chances had brightened after their 2-1 victory over Bright Stars last weekend.

The result put Vipers on 49 points, three less than league leaders KCCA FC who have also played a game more. Meanwhile, Express were dropped to third place and remained on 48 points from 27 games.

Elsewhere, Uganda Revenue Authority FC shared the spoils with Jinja based side Sadolin Paints in a goalless draw at Bugembe Stadium.
