A substantial number of DOADOA editions have been held upcountry. This year’s, however, is happening in Kampala.
For those oblivious, Doa Doa is an East African performing arts market which brings together stakeholders in East Africa’s music Industry in one place to share ideas. This is directed at helping to create demand and market for the music industry in East Africa.
DOADOA has helped to market local artistes internationally and also international artistes locally as they show case their potential musically.
According to Mr Faiswal Kiwewa, the founder of Bayimba Foundation which is the organizer of DOADOA, artists like Joel Sebunjo, Milege band; Sanyu Jemimah and Burney MC among others have been artistes who have performed several times at DOADOA.
There will be panel discussions which will involve artistes, songwriters, music producers and video directors. The artistes who will perform at this year’s 4 days festival will include Ruyonga, Gravitti Band from Kenya, Grace Matata from Tanzania, Ze Spirit band from Tanzania, Cultural Arts centre from Tanzania, Ricky Na Marafiki from Kenya, Kenneth Mugabi from Uganda, Lulu and Zakaleo band from Kenya, Christine Kamau from Kenya and Apollo Kagimu among others.
There will also be DJs from all over East Africa lined up for the performances; among these will be DJ Racheal from Uganda and DJ Ras Brown.
