At Champion Stadium, Mwererwe in Matugga, Entebbe Paul Mucureezi scored the only goal that fired KCCA FC into a third successive Uganda Cup semi final. The eight time winners and 2015 losing finalists of the annual tournament edged fellow Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) side Bright Stars.

Mucureezi headed home from Jackson Nunda’s free kick from the left to give the Kasasiro Boys a lead in the 65th minute that eventually turned out to be the match winner.

Elsewhere, League defending champions Vipers Sports Club beat Hope Doves by 2-0 to reach the semifinals of the 2016 Uganda Cup. A brace from an on-form and industrious Erisa Ssekisambu with one in each half were enough to send Hope Doves packing from the knockout competition.
