While Makerere University continue with the quest for their first league victory, their season has been dealt a big blow after the Appeals Committee of the University Football League upheld an earlier decision by the Disciplinary Committee to penalize the 2013 champions for hooliganism.
Makerere University were deducted 3 points and three goals for their continued hooliganism especially by fans on match day. It should be noted that Makerere University students have for years disrupted their home games hence affecting the results of games and sometimes leading to the abortion of matches. The unpleasant story has been no different this season hence forcing the UFL Disciplinary Committee to penalise them.
Unfortunately the culprits are yet to accumulate three points in Pool A after managing only 2 draws and one loss. The deduction implies that they are now bottom of the group with a negative point ahead of their away trip to play Ndejje University today.
Elsewhere, Kampala University yesterday edged Uganda Martyrs University by 1-0 thanks to Moses Buga’s only first half strike. Buga headed home from Najib’s well curled free kick in the 38th minute of the game to give KU the lead which eventually turned out to be the match winner. Kampala University’s Yiga Carl was voted the MoneyGram man of the match.
