Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) reigning champions, Vipers Sports Club will be seeking to reduce the seven-point gap between them and leaders KCCA FC when they visit bottom side Maroons FC on Tuesday evening.
The Kitende based side who host their home games in Buikwe are currently sitting fourth on the 16-team log with 31 points with two games in-hand but head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe says that a game in hand doesn’t necessarily mean points already won.
“A game in hand is never points won. We have to be at our mercurial best against Maroons to take advantage of games in hand,” Nsimbe told www.upl.ug.
Vipers’ last league fixture was a 2-1 loss to the Kajjansi boys of Lweza FC in the Entebbe-road derby. They however recently beat Kasese New Villa 2-0 away from home in the Uganda Cup.
The Nsimbe-coached side has a chance to go second on the table if they beat Maroons who in their last game beat army side Simba Sports Club 1-0 to register their second victory of the campaign last week on Friday in the relegation battle.
In the other game of the day, Police FC make a trip to Jinja to face off with Bul FC on the back of losing 3-2 to another Jinja based side and league debutants of JMC Hippos.
The Cops hope to arrest Alex Isabirye’s side whose last league game was a goalless draw in a meeting with Bright Stars at the Champion Stadium, last week on Tuesday.
Police are 7th on the table with 29 points while Bul are 11th with 26 points.
