As the second round of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) continues, six matches were played on Friday evening and a total of 15 goals were scored on match day 19.

At Luzira grounds, all season long bottom side Maroons FC registered their second win of the season as they beat army side Simba Sports Club in a relegation battle.

Second half substitute Salim Kiyaga scored the only goal of the game on the 71st minute to collect maximum points for Paddy Kintu’s side that remain bottom on 12 points from 20 games.

Elsewhere, Express FC beat Uganda Revenue Authority FC in their own backyard at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi.

After a barren first half, goal poacher Robert Ssentongo gave the Tax collectors the lead in the 57th minute of the game. Ibrahim Kayiwa leveled matters for the Red Eagles in the 69th minute while Tony Odur scored ten minutes later to send the visitors into the lead.

The result has seen Express climb to second place on the 16-team log with a better goal difference but tied on 32 points with a now third placed URA FC who have also played two games more than them.

At the Champion Stadium, Mwererwe in Matugga, Isaac Kirabira scored a second half strike that saw The Saints walk away with maximum points from the deadly ground against Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars.

The result lifts Moses Basena’s side out of the relegation zone, placing them in the 13th spot just above SC Victoria University on a negatively better goal difference with both sides having 19 points.

In the other games played on the day, JMC Hippos shocked Police FC in Kavumba, beating them by 3-2 in a five goal thriller while Jinja based side Sadolin Paints stunned Lweza FC at the Muteesa II Memorial Stadium in Wankulukuku.

In a shot trip made to the Namboole stadium, Soana FC thrashed home side Sports Club Victoria University (SC VU) to drop them back into the relegation zone.
