The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) president, Eng. Moses Magogo has appealed to the government for a chartered plane ahead of Uganda Cranes’ engagements in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
It should be noted that Uganda will this month face off with Burkina Faso in a double legged fixture in the Group D qualifiers within just four days. The Cranes travel to Ouagadougou for the first leg before returning to Kampala for the reverse fixture.
“We need government support to charter a flight to Burkina Faso. Our first match is on Saturday, 26th March 2016 in Ouagadougou. Three days later, we shall be at Namboole for the return leg. We need a chartered plane to prepare for the two games,” Magogo is quoted on the federation’s website.
While addressing the media yesterday at the weekly press conference at FUFA house in Mengo, Magogo noted that all countries that qualify for the biennial tournament need the full support of their governments.
“Our opponents have already booked a chartered flight to Kampala and their advance team should be in the country by now. From experience, all nations that qualify need the full assistance of their respective governments,” Magogo said.
Uganda lead pool D after two matches with six points while Burkina Faso are second with three points like the third placed Botswana who also play Comoros this month. Comoros are pointless at the bottom.
