URA FC beat Yanga on penalties to reach Mapinduzi Peace Cup final

Uganda’s representative at this year’s Mapinduzi Peace Cup, Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club yesterday defeated Tanzanian giants Yanga Football Club 4-3 on penalties to reach the finals of the annual tournament.

The two sides played to a one-all draw in normal time before heading into the penalties at the Amaani Stadium in Zanzibar.

Yanga FC took the lead through Hamis Tambwe but failed to contain the pressure from the Tax collectors hence falling to the lethal venom of substitute Peter Lwasa who notched the equalizer to send the game into penalties.

URA’s penalty scorers; Bwete Brian, Kulaba Jimmy, Deo Othieno and Kyeyune Saidi while Samuel Sekitto missed his take.

In the other semi –final, Mutibwa Sugar edged Simba by 1-0.

URA SC will now play Mutibwa Sugar in the final on Wednesday, 13th January while Simba will face off with Yanga FC in the third place play off. The winner will walk away with $10,000.
