Bobi Wine

Social media has in the past few days been awash with news that UCC had banned Bobi Wine’s latest single, Dembe, from playing on the local air waves. Several social media users have been suggesting that the song had been banned because of its political connotations during this tumultuous election period.

However, in a twist of events, UCC has denied these claims. According to multiple media reports, UCC executive director, Mr Godfrey Mutabazi, said that the communications sector regulator has not banned any song by Bobi Wine.

Following the reports, some music analysts have come out to say that Bobi could have started the rumour to drive interest in the song.

In the song, Bobi Wine preaches against election–related violence and further calls  for peaceful transition of power. Listen to the song here.
