Mourners got in a fracas with Police at musician Master Blaster’s burial that took place today in Kitgum. The wrangles between Police and mourners resulted in the body of the deceased being buried shortly after dark.
The fracas started when relatives refused to bury the body threatening to send it back to Kampala if they are not compensated by Police for the loss. More to this, mourners demanded for a clear explanation in regards to the events leading to the “Embooko” singer’s death.
Police was quick to explain. They revealed that a thorough investigation would be carried out and a condolence package from Kampala would be sent.
“Why have we brought the body all this way? We are looking for who caused the death and investigations are still ongoing. If you are convinced that the body came from the Police, we shall write a condolence message and deliver to you. I can assure you that the justice that we need will be got,” said the DPC amidst weeping by some of the relatives.
Shortly after his speech, the body of the deceased was laid to rest.
Master Blaster, real name Cornelius Oloya succumbed to bullet shots on Tuesday morning. He was shot twice in the stomach, died at Mulago Hospital hours later.
