10 Ways to Deal with Your Boyfriend’s Friends (Especially If You Dislike Them)

You love making plans with your set of friends along with the hubby, but the moment it comes to his friends, you simply want to run the other way. Be it their jokes, their attitude or just the things they talk about, you always dread hanging out with them. While you can definitely talk to your man and sort out the issue, here are 10 other ways to deal with it without making anyone uncomfortable.

1. Have a thick skin: Don’t let the insensitive jokes get to you. Maintain a thick skin when it comes to dealing with them; being sensitive to what they say will just make things difficult for you.

2. Let him have bro-time: Don’t stop your man from spending time with his friends. Let him have his boys’ night without you. That way you can stay away and still earn some brownie points for giving him his space.

3. Make less interactive plans: Instead of meeting for a sit-down dinner, go for a movie. That way you can spend time with them, but still have your own space.

4. Call your friends over: Try to merge the two groups and have his set of friends mingle with yours. That way you always have someone to hang out with and not get too worked up.

5. Limit the outings: Don’t hang out with them every other weekend. Rather limit group outings to once a month and spend time with each other. A win-win.

6. Pick proper venues: Instead of going to a cosy place go to a loud pub. This discourages conversations and you can just get drunk and slip away.

7. Use the phone: It’s rude yes, but the best way to ignore them when you just can’t find any other option is to browse through your phone. And you can always pretend that it’s a work emergency.

8. Research on some safe topics: Sports and movies, just stick to these safe topics when having a discussion.

9. Enjoy the food: Pick a place that serves your favourite cuisine so that you can enjoy the food no matter what happens.

10. Set ground rules: Talk to your husband and let him know about your feelings. Set some ground rules as to how often you’ll hang out with them, and whether or not it’s necessarily for you to always be there, and stick to them.
