Musician Bobi Wine who was in the news a few weeks back for engaging the community to cover up a sink-hole in the road is at it again.
The self-proclaimed ghetto gladiator has yet again come out to ask the authorities to let him fix the road since there has been no progress on the project for long. He said:
“Dear KCCA, I salute you with warm seasonal greetings and hoping you’re all having a happy festive season. For us here in Kamwokya we are having a terrible time.
A few weeks ago, we complained about a dangerous hole in the road which had even claimed lives, we brought it your attention via social media and the response was amazing. A team from Kcca showed up, excavated the hole even deeper, delivered culverts that very day, the road was closed and work seemed to have began. However, today it’s almost THREE WEEKS and nothing more has been done.
Meanwhile old kira road remains closed, and dangerous to even to pedestrians. Business around the place has all come to a STAND STILL and this has greatly affected our people this festive season.Needless to mention the TRAFFIC JAM on Kira road which stretches even beyond Kamwokya.
This road is the life of our community. Ofcourse this is not the appropriate platform to address this issue but we were left with no option since we can’t easily access your office. I am PERSONALLY GREATLY AFFECTED because all this is right infront of SSEMAKOKIRO PLAZA.
BOTTOM LINE;We understand that community infrastructure maintainance is our responsibility too, so on behalf of my community and on my own behalf, I am requesting for permission to fix this trench. We shall come together as a community have it done before Christmas. IF PERMISSION IS GRANTED.”
