The Uganda Cranes team that won the record 14th CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup title was yesterday treated to a dinner at State House.

Uganda beat Rwanda 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Ethiopia to win the 2015 annual regional tournament.

The dinner followed an invite from H.E President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta. However, the president was not available to receive them in person.

The team was therefore warmly welcomed by the Vice President Hon. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.

The Cranes were led by the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo, Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Charles Bakabulindi, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson and other FUFA Executive Committee members who accompanied the players, some fans and members from the National Council of Sports.

“I thank you the Uganda Cranes for being good ambassadors of our country in different tournaments on the African continent and beyond. The incredible performance you exhibited during the CECAFA tournament proved that you can make it even for bigger tournaments like the African Cup and the World Cup,” Vice president, Edward Ssekandi is quoted on the federation’s website.

The team later in the night embarked on a trip to Soroti where they were to meet with President Museveni.
