Unavailability of stadiums frustrates Azam Uganda Premier League fixtures

The unavailability of stadiums has started to frustrate Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) fixtures starting with one of KCCA FC against Bright Stars, a fixture that was slated for Tuesday, 27th October when the league resumes after a three week break.

Recently, the Kasasiro Boys’ officials wrote a letter to the Uganda Premier League secretariat seeking a reschedule of the tie against Fred Kajoba’s side from Tuesday to Wednesday citing that six of their players were on the national team who travel to Sudan today and return on Monday.

The same side now claim that their interim home ground of Nakivubo stadium and the alternative Namboole stadium are both unavailable for any fixtures and therefore urge that the match be postponed until further notice.

Speaking to Airtel Football, KCCA CEO, David Tamale said; “We are writing to the UPL to postpone game since we have nowhere to host it.”

However, a few logical thinkers suggest that the Kawempe based side of Bright Stars do host the fixture for the first leg at Mwererwe stadium and KCCA will host the second leg which seems very realistic if no rules are broken.

Meanwhile Bright Stars in the absence of their head coach Fred Kajoba who is with the national team managed to beat rivals Soana FC in a friendly match by 2-1 thanks to goals from Banga Farouk and Male Robert for the hosts.
