Fun and excitement filled Soroti public gardens as school children celebrated their achievements of being named the top token collecting schools in the Hi Five Puzzle Challenge promotion that was launched three weeks ago.

“We plan to award the leading schools in the different regions with an activity we have called a ‘Fun Day’. During these fun days, we basically engage the children by taking part in co-curricular activities. We have kick started the fun days here in the Soroti at Lifeway primary school that is in the lead so far in the Eastern region,” commented Isaac Lutwama Unilever East Africa Spreads Brand Manager.

Over 300 children were treated to lots of exciting activities that included face painting, aerobics, insightful discussions around optimal nutrition as well as an awards ceremony where the top school teachers and pupils received Blue Band hampers.

Dr. Sabrina Bakeera Kitaka, the campaign Brand Ambassador, a leading pediatrician at Mulago Hospital and lecturer at the College of Health sciences in Makerere University encouraged the children, teachers and parents to focus on healthy feeding by choosing foods rich in micro-nutrients.

She also advised them to engage in regular physical exercise so as to enable children concentrate in class and avoid abnormalities.

The Blue Band Hi Five Schools Puzzle Challenge was launched on 30th September, 2015 at Kitante Primary School by Minister of State for Primary Health Care, Hon. Sarah Achieng Opendi and is focused on educating children and parents about the importance of optimal nutrition.

The competition is intended to improve awareness on nutrition to pupils drawn from over 1,000 schools in Uganda through Blue Band which helps kids to grow, by providing energy, stronger bones and teeth, and improving vision and immunity.
