Express FC condemned Uganda Cranes to a 2-0 defeat at Wankulukuku Stadium yesterday as the CHAN squad stepped up their preparations ahead of their clash with Sudan.
Goals from Tonny Odur in the 17th minute and Eric Ssebuguzi in the 55th minute were enough to see off the Cranes in a game in which one hour was played in each half.
Micho’s side are braced for another buildup match against Sports Club Villa at Nakivubo Stadium tomorrow before welcoming the Falcons.
The Serbian is, however, still optimistic despite the loss saying that; “I’m not worried by the result, we lost to Kira Young (2-0) before going for Chan (SA) and to URA (4-0) before beating Mauritania.”
On Saturday 17th, the Cranes will entertain the Falcons of Sudan in the first leg of the third and final round of the Africa Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier to fight for a slot at the finals that will be played in Rwanda next year.
Micho fielded two teams that lined-up as follows:
Team one: Ismail Watenga/Mathias Kigonya(G.K), Okot, Henry Katongole, Isaac Muleme, Bernard Muwanga, Awany, Peter Katumba, Hakim Ssenkumba, Keziron Kizito, Frank Kalanda and Arthur Semazzi.
Team two: James Alitho(G.K), Ibrahim Kiyemba, Joseph Ochaya, Hassan ‘Dazo’ Wasswa, Shafik Bakaki, Deus Bukenya, Ivan Ntege, Erisa Ssekisambu, Muzamir Mutyaba, Farouk Miya and Caesar Okhuti played the other half for Cranes but the Red Eagles stood tall.
