With Vipers set to host KCCA FC today, local football governing body, FUFA has withdrawn licenses of four players for failure to turn up for national team duty after being summoned by Cranes head coach Milutin Micho Sedrojevic.

It should be noted that failure turn up for national team duty without justification means infringing Article 37 (2) of the FUFA Regulations on Status and transfer of players for the 2015/2016.

Article 37 Principles state:

“1) Clubs/FLFA is obliged to release their registered players for the national teams if called upon.  Any divergent agreement between a player and a club/FLFA is prohibited and persons who contravene this rule shall be liable to disciplinary action.

2) As a general rule, every player registered for a Club/FLFA is obliged to respond affirmatively when called up by FUFA for national team duty

3) A player who is unable to comply with a call-up from FUFA owing to injury or illness shall, if FUFA so requires, agree to undergo a medical examination by a doctor of FUFA’s choice.”

First and second choice goalkeepers, Watenga Ismail Bin Abdul Rashid and Alitho James, senior defender Bukenya Deus and midfielder Kizito Keziron are the players whose licenses have been provisionally withdrawn according to a communication from the federation.

According to the Federation of Uganda Football Association, the matter of the players in review has been forwarded to the FUFA Disciplinary Committee and they will not be allowed to feature for their club for the next two physically played FUFA Competitions matches.

These include; Vipers vs KCCA (which is due tomorrow in Buikwe) and Sc Villa vs Vipers.
