BigEyeUg Media has revealed the current list of East Africa’s Top Musicians at the moment. This should not be confused with East Africa’s best musicians of all time, it is only indicative of how the music artistes rank at the moment. Here’s the list.

1. Diamond Platinumz (Tanzania)
This is the only music artiste from Tanzania who made it to the list. From being the most followed star on Facebook, he also leads in East Africa at the moment. He’s bagged numerous awards this year including the Zari award which he bagged from the Ivan Ssemwanga awards held in South Africa.

2. Eddy Kenzo (Uganda)
Had it not been for Diamond Platinumz, Eddy Kenzo would be the best East African musician at the moment. Nonetheless, he leads on all fronts at number two. He’s won the most music awards in Uganda this year and has been a musician who registered the fastest growth rate from a local artiste to an international star.

3. Sauti Sol (Kenya)
They come in third. With songs such as Nerea and Sura Yako trending allover East Africa, these guys deserve to be in this position.

4. Bebe Cool (Uganda)
Big Size redeems himself at number four. He is the second best in Uganda but the fourth best in East Africa. With his videos that are about to be released, he could climb to number two in East Africa. However, his album has not reached majority of the Ugandan population since it was released on Amazon and iTunes putting it out of reach for ordinary citizens which we think was a big mistake.

5. Radio and Weasel (Uganda)
6. Jose Chameleone (Uganda)
7. Lady JayDee (Tanzania)
8. Maurice Kirya (Uganda)
9. Juliana (Uganda)
10. Kidum (Kenya)

STATISTICS
Uganda: 60%
Kenya: 20%
Tanzania: 20%
Rwanda: 0%
Burundi: 0%
South Sudan: 0%

For every 10 East African musicians, 6 will be from Uganda.
